About the role#
The University Events Student Assistant helps plan, prepare, run, and break down events across campus facilities and outdoor spaces. You will work with the University Events team to provide a professional and organized experience for students, faculty, staff, and guests. This role offers hands-on experience in venue management, logistics, and customer service for a wide range of functions, including meetings, conferences, performances, and ceremonies.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the setup and breakdown of event equipment, including tables, chairs, staging, and signage.
- Ensure event spaces are clean, organized, and properly configured before guests arrive.
- Provide professional assistance to guests, including wayfinding, registration, and answering event-related questions.
- Support basic audiovisual and event technology needs after receiving training.
- Monitor event spaces to identify and report maintenance, safety, or operational concerns.
- Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing event materials and maintaining equipment inventories.
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures to maintain a secure environment for all attendees.
What you'll need#
- Must be currently enrolled as a student at the University of Tulsa.
- Ability to provide dependable and punctual attendance for assigned shifts.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to providing quality customer service.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends, early mornings, and holidays as event needs require.
