About the role#
The University of New Mexico is hiring a Student Recycling Tech to join the Recycling Services team. This is a hands-on position focused on maintaining campus sustainability through the collection and processing of recyclable materials. You will work outdoors and assist full-time technicians in daily operations.
What you'll do#
- Collect recyclable materials from across campus.
- Operate equipment including baling machines, forklifts, and trucks.
- Monitor and adjust the flow of materials through the facility.
- Manage, consolidate, and report on hazardous materials.
- Assist with daily facility maintenance, organization, and cleaning.
- Provide material collection support to full-time technicians.
- Sort collected materials and report data as directed by your supervisor.
What you'll need#
- Must meet current academic registration requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry heavy objects up to 50 lbs.
- Dependability regarding attendance and schedules.
- Strong communication skills for reporting and customer service.
- Ability to work in a facility environment that involves exposure to various weather conditions, dirt, and dust.
- Commitment to maintaining an organized and clean workspace.
