About the role#
The Corporate Accounting and Reporting team at The Standard offers an internship designed to help you apply classroom knowledge to real-world business situations. You will work under the guidance of a manager who provides coaching and professional development. This role involves collaborating with teams across the organization, presenting your findings, and gaining practical experience in a corporate finance environment.
What you'll do#
- Support month-end and quarter-end close activities, including preparing and posting journal entries.
- Prepare and analyze entity-level and consolidated financial statements.
- Perform account reconciliations, account certifications, and variance analysis.
- Research accounting policies and technical accounting matters.
- Participate in process improvement, automation, and AI-enabled initiatives.
- Support special projects and other strategic accounting tasks as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time student, specifically rising sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students.
- Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Completion of introductory accounting coursework and a foundational understanding of financial statements.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, along with experience using Teams and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in both independent and virtual environments.
- Commitment to accuracy and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

- This position is fully remote.
- The role is full-time.
- This is a paid internship that includes three days of paid time off and paid holidays.
- The company provides necessary equipment, including a laptop and monitor.
