About the role#
The Nuclear Company is building the software that enables the construction of new nuclear power plants. Our Nuclear Operating System (NOS) manages regulatory, supply chain, cost, schedule, and field work for our reactor projects. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will join an engineering squad to build production-grade features. You will work alongside full-time engineers and nuclear experts to ship code that supports energy independence and national security.
What you'll do#
- Build new features and modules within NOS, including regulatory automation, supply chain tools, and the commercial portal.
- Develop AI-powered software, including LLM-backed features, agent-based tools, and retrieval-augmented generation systems.
- Create data integrations across AWS GovCloud, Palantir Foundry, and other internal systems.
- Convert prototypes from build-a-thons into production-ready features and develop deployment tooling for field teams.
- Build automated testing and compliance infrastructure to keep NOS audit-ready, while triaging and addressing system issues.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS program for Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related technical field.
- Strong programming fundamentals in at least one modern language such as Python, TypeScript, Java, Go, Rust, or C++.
- A demonstrated track record of shipping working software through personal projects, course work, or previous internships.
- You must be a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) to comply with export control requirements.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
- The role is based on-site in Washington, DC, five days a week.
- You must be able to commit to the full six-month term.
