About the role#
The Nuclear Company is building software to support the construction of nuclear reactors. You will join our team to develop models that impact real-world energy projects. As an intern, you will work alongside full-time engineers to take models from raw data to a deployed, monitored service. This is a full-time, six-month co-op position running from January to June 2027.
What you'll do#
- Source, clean, and explore data to build, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models.
- Build ML pipelines and manage experiments using tools like MLflow, Kubeflow, or SageMaker.
- Create forecasting and time-series models to track megaproject cost, schedule, and risk.
- Manage the full model lifecycle, including production monitoring, drift detection, and retraining triggers.
- Establish evaluation and validation frameworks to ensure results remain accurate and audit-ready.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a BS or MS program in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Applied Math, or a related technical field.
- Proficiency in Python and the ML data stack, including pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn.
- Hands-on experience building ML pipelines and evaluating models through coursework, research, or previous projects.
- Ability to work on-site in Washington, DC, five days a week for the full six-month term.
- U.S. Person status (U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident) is required due to U.S. export control regulations.
