    About the role#

    The LEGO Creative Play Lab is looking for a Firmware Engineering Co-Op for the Spring 2027 term. This role is based in our Boston hub. You will join a multidisciplinary team focused on early-stage ideation and the development of new play experiences. We are looking for a builder who wants to use technology to create new ways for children to play.

    What you'll do#

    • Apply first-principles reasoning to break down complex engineering problems into fundamental components.
    • Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and mechatronics teams to develop new technologies.
    • Assist in root-cause investigations by capturing data, running tests, and reviewing failure modes.
    • Communicate your progress, findings, and any blockers clearly to the engineering team.
    • Participate in early-stage ideation and concept development for new products.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a computer engineering, computer science, or related engineering program.
    • Previous co-op experience in a related engineering field.
    • Proficiency in C and Python programming languages.
    • Familiarity with software and firmware engineering tools, including revision control and IDEs.
    • Experience with hardware debugging tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic or bus analyzers.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with global design hubs.

    • Location: Boston, Massachusetts.
    • Term: Spring 2027.
    • Modality: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the office.
    • Employment: Full-time, paid position.
    • Note: This position does not provide relocation or housing assistance.
