About the role#
The Wediko NY Learning To Work Internship Coordinator works at a 9-12th grade transfer school to manage the student internship program. You will place students in paid internships, implement certification courses, and collaborate with the Wediko team on hiring, onboarding, and supervision.
What you'll do#
- Recruit high-school students for the internship program.
- Conduct applications, interviews, and onboarding to mirror a real-world employment process.
- Match students with internships based on their interests, maturity, and skill level.
- Facilitate individual and group-based trainings to build student skills and professionalism.
- Run workshops on resume building, interview skills, and career readiness.
- Perform regular site visits to monitor intern performance.
- Provide guidance to students on performance issues and encourage self-advocacy.
- Maintain professional partnerships to provide a variety of internship opportunities.
- Manage HR documentation, including timesheets and performance contracts.
- Facilitate communication between students, families, partner organizations, and school staff.
- Provide crisis counseling, mediation, and social-emotional support when needed.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to create and monitor individualized student plans.
What you'll need#
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- 3+ years of experience providing school-based direct service or residential treatment.
- 1+ years of experience in job development, staff supervision, or human resources.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to approach challenges in a supportive and creative manner.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Commitment to a strengths-based perspective and ongoing professional development.
- Bilingual Spanish skills are preferred.
