About the role#
The Hartford is looking for interns to join the SURGE (Succeed in Underwriting's Risk-based Group Experience) Program. This is a ten-week formal learning program focused on developing underwriting and risk management skills within our Group Benefits segment. You will gain experience through hands-on practical exercises, job shadowing, mentoring, and a capstone project.
What you'll do#
- Develop underwriting and risk management skills for Group Benefits core products, including Short-Term Disability, Long Term Disability, and Group Life.
- Partner with Sales, Account Management, and Actuarial teams to strategize, price, evaluate, and underwrite cases.
- Participate in formal learning sessions to understand underwriting philosophy.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May 2028.
- A degree focus in Risk Management & Insurance, Business, Economics, Finance, Accounting, or Mathematics.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- The ability to think analytically to solve business problems and propose solutions.
- Demonstrated organizational, time, and desk management skills.
