About the role#
The Hanover Insurance Group is seeking interns for our Summer 2027 Application Engineer program. This 10-week, full-time position is based on-site in Worcester, Massachusetts. You will work on software development projects, gain experience with Generative AI, and collaborate with senior developers and mentors to design and implement web technologies.
What you'll do#
- Write code using Java, Python, or C++.
- Gain hands-on experience with Generative AI frameworks, RAG patterns, and Vector Databases.
- Integrate GenAI models using REST APIs, microservices, or cloud-native architectures.
- Apply Core Java concepts, including object-oriented programming, data types, and secure coding.
- Research and build web technologies while working alongside senior team members.
- Analyze the end-to-end user experience to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Follow quality standards and procedures throughout the development process.
- Collaborate with project team members and deliver a final presentation to leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or advanced degree program, preferably in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a software-related field.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now or in the future.
- Availability for the full 10-week summer program.
- Experience in prompt engineering.
- Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and Javascript is a plus.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP and MLOps tools such as MLflow or Kubeflow is a plus.
