About the role#
The Dermot Company is seeking an Accounting Intern to support property reporting, corporate accounting, and accounts payable functions. Working directly with the Accounts Payable and Property Accountant teams, you will gain exposure to full-cycle real estate accounting and property operations. This is a part-time, paid position for Summer 2026, lasting 17 weeks with a potential extension into the Spring semester.
What you'll do#
- Assist property accountants with financial reporting duties.
- Prepare reconciliations of accounts.
- Support the corporate accounts payable function to improve processes and efficiency.
- Assist the Accounting Manager and Director of Finance with ad hoc projects.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for accounting or finance.
- Genuine interest in the operations of multifamily real estate.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- High level of organization, analytical capability, and attention to detail.
- Strong work ethic, integrity, and a commitment to meeting deadlines.

- Location: New York, New York.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $28 per hour.
- Note: As a seasonal position, this role does not include benefits beyond those mandated by federal and state regulations.
