About the role#
The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring interns for the Winter and Summer 2027 terms. This is a full-time, paid position based in Leander, Texas. You will work 40 to 50 hours per week, primarily Monday through Friday with occasional Saturday work. You will be assigned a mentor to guide you through various industry experiences.
What you'll do#
Your primary goal is to learn the work of a tree doctor. You will gain hands-on experience in tree care, climbing, and chainsaw operation. You will also participate in plant health care and customer service tasks. Your work will take place across residential properties, commercial sites, and office settings. During your internship, you will work toward completing the CDP C Climber/Trimmer Career Development Booklet and the Plant Health Care Career Development Booklet.
What you'll need#
We are looking for students currently studying Arboriculture, Urban Forestry, Horticulture, Landscape Design, Forestry, or a related discipline. You must have a valid driver's license, though a commercial driver's license is highly valued. We look for candidates who enjoy the outdoors, have a positive attitude, and are willing to learn. You should also demonstrate reliable attendance, punctuality, and strong communication skills.
Location & details#
This role is located in Leander, Texas. It is an on-site position. The company provides climbing gear, uniforms, and personal protective equipment. You will participate in monthly check-in calls to review your progress and meet with company leaders.
