About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. You will work on-site as part of a tree crew, learning the technical skills required to care for and maintain trees. This role offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in arboriculture while working outdoors.
What you'll do#
- Learn to climb trees and work safely in the canopy.
- Perform tree pruning, thinning, and removal of deadwood.
- Assist in the removal of hazardous trees.
- Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
- Master tree identification and industry pruning guidelines.
- Operate and maintain equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
- Work as a collaborative member of a tree crew to complete service tasks.
What you'll need#
- A love for the outdoors.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
- Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR, and defensive driving courses upon hire.
- A background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights is preferred.
- Relevant pesticide or related licenses and certificates are preferred.
