About the role#

This internship within the Family Services organization provides direct counseling services and consultation to ecclesiastical leaders under close supervision. The role focuses on helping Church leaders support individuals facing social and emotional challenges, such as mental disorders, family relationship problems, and crisis situations, while ensuring all resources are in harmony with gospel principles. Interns must maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all legal and professional standards of practice.

What you'll do#

• Provide clinical care to clients under close supervision.
• Consult with ecclesiastical leaders and maintain a positive, professional rapport.
• Document clinical interactions by maintaining accurate, updated notes in the data collection system.
• Ensure the work environment remains clean, safe, and well-organized.
• Develop and follow an individual training plan for professional development.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Knowledge of legal issues within the counseling profession.
• Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct and provide service consistent with gospel standards and values.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Must be a member of the Church who is worthy of a temple recommend.
