Intern - UT Layton

About the role#

This internship position is within the Family Services organization. The role focuses on helping Church leaders care for individuals facing social and emotional challenges by providing resources aligned with gospel principles. Interns provide direct counseling services and consultation under close supervision while maintaining strict confidentiality and legal compliance.

What you'll do#

• Provide clinical care under close supervision.
• Consult with and maintain a positive rapport with Church leaders.
• Assist clients and ecclesiastical leaders with social and emotional concerns, including mental disorders and family relationship problems.
• Maintain accurate and updated notes in the data collection system.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and well-organized work area.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct and provide service within gospel standards and values.
• Knowledge of legal issues within the counseling profession.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
• Ability to develop and follow through with an individual training plan for professional development.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Note: Only members of the Church who are worthy of a temple recommend qualify for employment.
