About the role#

This internship within the Family Services organization supports Church leaders in caring for individuals facing social and emotional challenges. The role focuses on providing direct counseling services and consultation while ensuring all resources provided are in harmony with gospel principles. Interns work under close supervision in an environment that requires strict adherence to confidentiality policies and legal standards.

What you'll do#

• Provide clinical care to clients under close supervision.
• Consult with and maintain a positive rapport with ecclesiastical leaders.
• Assist clients and leaders with social and emotional issues, including mental disorders, family relationship problems, and abuse.
• Maintain accurate, updated clinical notes within the data collection system.
• Ensure the work area remains clean, safe, and well-organized.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
• Ability to communicate sensitive subject matter professionally with clients and ecclesiastical leaders.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to develop and follow through with an individual training plan for professional development.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct and provide service within gospel standards and values.
• Knowledge of legal issues within the counseling profession.
