Intern - TX Houston

About the role#

This internship with the Family Services organization focuses on helping Church leaders support individuals facing social and emotional challenges. You will provide direct counseling services and consultation to ecclesiastical leaders while working under close supervision. The role requires handling sensitive matters—including mental health disorders, family relationship issues, and crisis situations—in strict compliance with professional standards, legal requirements, and confidentiality policies.

What you'll do#

• Provide clinical care to clients under close supervision.
• Offer consultation and maintain positive working relationships with Church leaders.
• Document client interactions by maintaining accurate, updated notes in the data collection system.
• Ensure the work environment remains clean, safe, and well-organized.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment as a 2nd-year master's student in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field.
• Ability to maintain exacting standards of moral conduct and provide service consistent with gospel standards and values.
• Strong knowledge of professional legal issues.
• Proven written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to discuss sensitive subjects professionally.
• Ability to create and follow an individual training plan for professional development.
• Professional appearance and attitude.
• Must be a member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend.
