About the role#
The Christman Company is hiring an Assistant Project Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 program in Lansing, Michigan. This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship for students looking to gain practical construction experience. Please note that we do not offer visa sponsorship for this position.
What you'll do#
You will support the project team with daily administrative and technical tasks. Your responsibilities include:
- Managing Request for Information (RFI) processes, document control, and submittal tracking.
- Summarizing key decisions and discussions from project, owner, and subcontractor meetings.
- Reviewing specification books to ensure project quality and compliance.
- Assisting Superintendents with daily reports and project photo management.
- Helping the Project Manager schedule inspections and maintain inspection logs.
- Updating contract drawings to reflect approved changes.
- Supporting site safety initiatives and reporting concerns to project leadership.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a full-time Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
- A bachelor’s degree path in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Preference is given to students with prior commercial construction experience or involvement in student organizations.
