About the role#
As a Polysomnographic Technologist Student, you will perform diagnostic sleep testing under the supervision of staff technologists. This is a part-time, on-site role. You will assist in clinical procedures and data collection to support reading physicians.
What you'll do#
- Prepare and calibrate equipment to ensure proper function and apply electrodes or sensors according to standards.
- Perform physiologic calibrations and make adjustments as needed.
- Conduct Multiple Sleep Latency Tests, Maintenance of Wakefulness tests, and parasomnia studies.
- Perform PAP and oxygen titration, including therapeutic interventions.
- Collect and compile data for the reading physician.
- Explain testing procedures to patients and handle patient arrival, registration, and discharge.
- Follow lights out and lights on procedures to establish and document baseline values.
- Implement patient safety interventions and complete all required documentation.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Six months of direct patient care experience, or current enrollment in or graduation from an accredited sleep technology program.
- Basic Life Support certification.
- Ability to obtain the RPSGT credential within one year of employment.
