About the role#
The Sales & Management Intern position focuses on creating an enjoyable shopping experience for guests while learning the operational side of the retail business. You will work closely with the Store Manager to understand how the business functions and what is required to excel in a management role. This is a paid, on-site internship.
What you'll do#
- Greet guests with a friendly attitude and help them locate or select merchandise based on their needs.
- Achieve personal sales-per-hour, average sales, and total net sales goals.
- Manage a specific product category by setting sales goals, educating teammates, and tracking your results.
- Perform operational tasks including opening and closing cash registers, balancing cash drawers, and monitoring the store for security risks.
- Handle freight, prepare displays, and maintain a clean, organized, and shoppable store environment.
- Complete Teammate Orientation, Beginning Leadership, and Recruiting modules.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the Area and District Managers and participate in monthly conference calls.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university.
- Interest in a long-term commitment with the company.
- No prior experience or training is required.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including mornings, evenings, and weekends.
- Availability to work on the day of and the day after Thanksgiving and Christmas.
- Physical ability to stand, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
- Ability to lift and maneuver 50 lbs.
