About the role#
The Sales and Management Intern position focuses on supporting the store mission to create an enjoyable shopping experience for guests. You will work closely with the Store Manager to learn how the retail business operates while gaining hands-on management experience. This is a paid, full-time, on-site internship based in Merrillville, Indiana.
What you'll do#
- Handle sales, merchandising, and operational tasks including cashiering, processing freight, and maintaining store cleanliness.
- Complete specific sections of the Buckle Management Manual covering Teammate Orientation, Beginning Leadership, and Recruiting, Interviewing and Hiring.
- Manage a specific product category by setting sales goals, educating teammates on the product, and tracking results.
- Provide weekly progress reports to the Area and District Managers.
- Develop core skills in recruiting, merchandising, and leadership.
- Participate in monthly conference calls and complete required internship assignments.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or Human Resources.
- No prior retail experience or training is required.
- You have an interest in a long-term commitment with Buckle.
- You are physically able to lift and maneuver 50 lbs throughout the store and backroom.
