    About the role#

    The Athletic is offering a 12-week internship for the Summer 2027 term. You will join the Sports Business team to gain experience across multiple facets of our newsroom. This program provides hands-on editing, 1:1 meetings with reporters, and exposure to our video and data teams. The internship runs from June 2027 to August 2027.

    What you'll do#

    • Collaborate on projects with the Sports Business desk.
    • Conduct interviews with subject-matter experts and newsmakers.
    • Create first-person explainer videos on sports-business topics.
    • Help curate and write the weekly MoneyCall Sports Business newsletter.
    • Perform daily industry research to identify potential stories.
    • Handle selective day-to-day reporting and writing tasks.

    What you'll need#

    • Current undergraduate student, ideally in your junior or senior year.
    • Ability to work 30 to 40 hours per week.
    • Deep knowledge of and interest in sports.
    • Flexibility to adapt to changing needs and priorities.
    • Previous newsroom internship experience is a plus.
    • Demonstrated experience creating video is a plus.
    • Majors in Communications or Journalism are preferred.

    Location & details#

    • This is a paid, full-time internship.
    • The role is remote, with an option for New York City-based candidates to work on-site in the New York office.
    • Please note that this remote internship may require some travel to New York City.
