R&D Engineer Summer Intern

About the role#

TG Kentucky, LLC is seeking an R&D Engineer Summer Intern for the Summer 2026 term. This is a full-time, on-site, paid internship based in Plymouth, Michigan. The role supports the Safety Systems engineering team in the development and testing of prototype automotive components.

What you'll do#

• Assist the engineering team with prototype builds, including tracing, cutting, and sewing airbag cushion components.
• Create and modify 2D CAD designs for safety systems parts using established engineering principles.
• Set up and conduct tests for prototype safety components.
• Provide support for tested parts through reporting and analysis.
• Lead assigned engineering projects and perform other duties as required.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering.
• High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management abilities.
• A strong desire to learn all aspects of safety systems.
