The Turfgrass Research Intern will join the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service to support ongoing research projects. This role involves active participation in field trials, including cultivar evaluation, soil amendment research, irrigation studies, and herbicide trials. This is a paid, part-time position requiring up to 20 hours of work per week.
What you'll do#
- Perform field maintenance of turfgrass research plots, including mowing and general management.
- Collect data and evaluate field trials.
- Assist with greenhouse and laboratory activities as required.
- Work in outdoor field environments, which may involve travel to off-campus research sites and collaborating institutions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or completion of a B.S. degree in agronomy, horticulture, plant science, turfgrass science, or a related field.
- Basic knowledge of turfgrass management practices.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- A strong work ethic and a willingness to learn.
- Preferred: Experience with the operation and maintenance of turfgrass equipment (such as reel mowers, aerifiers, verticutters, or sod harvesters) and experience with irrigation system installation or maintenance.
