About the role#
Tesla ships software to millions of vehicles. The Update Systems team ensures these updates reach customers safely and reliably. As an intern, you will focus on the quality of components within the update system. You will build and maintain automated test suites and internal tools to support validation efforts.
What you'll do#
- Design and maintain automated HIL and SIL test suites.
- Develop test scenarios and write code for update systems using hardware and software in the loop environments.
- Maintain autonomous test and reporting infrastructure.
- Build and maintain internal Python tools to support test automation.
- Define and report on performance and health metrics for the system updater.
- Collaborate across teams to investigate issues and identify gaps in testing.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science or related degree program.
- An expected graduation date between 2027 and 2028.
- Strong programming skills in Python.
- Understanding of object-oriented design and algorithms.
- Experience developing tests with reusable code.
- Ability to create test guidelines from technical specifications.
- Capacity to troubleshoot complex system interactions.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to drive problems to solutions across different groups.
- Acute attention to detail.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Palo Alto, California.
- The internship is full-time, 40 hours per week, and on-site.
- The term covers Winter 2027 through Spring 2027, requiring a minimum of 12 weeks.
- This is a paid position.
