About the role#
Tesla is building in-car navigation experiences for the Robotaxi, Smart Summon, and Navigate on Autopilot systems. We are looking for software engineers to implement algorithms that process large amounts of data from the vehicle fleet. You will work on projects that improve routing efficiency and turn-by-turn navigation for our customers.
What you'll do#
- Prototype in-car customer experiences.
- Extract data from fleet telemetry using automated processes.
- Implement features that span both client and server environments.
- Manage your changes from initial concept through to in-car drive testing.
- Design, code, and debug software for Linux-based embedded platforms and servers.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers, UI designers, and QA teams.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Computer Science or related degree program, with a graduation date between 2027 and 2028.
- Proficiency in C++, Python, Golang, or Scala.
- Experience writing and shipping code for customers.
- A focus on code quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Evidence of achievement in large-scale algorithmic environments.
- A willingness to learn new technologies across the stack, including vehicle control, routing algorithms, and UI.
- Experience with Maps, GIS, or Computational Geometry is a plus, as is familiarity with Spark, AWS, Kubernetes, Jenkins, or Machine Learning.
Location & details#
- Location: Palo Alto, California.
- Term: Winter 2027 and Spring 2027.
- Commitment: This is a full-time, on-site internship requiring 40 hours per week for at least 12 weeks.
- Compensation: $42.00 - $58.00 per hour plus benefits.
