About the role#
This internship supports our Materials service line. You will work alongside engineering staff to gain hands-on experience in the materials engineering industry. Each intern is assigned a mentor to assist with career planning and technical development. You will participate in a peer cohort and attend a summer summit to connect with other interns and company leaders. This is a paid, full-time position.
What you'll do#
- Learn site safety and safe work practices.
- Perform sampling or testing as directed.
- Assist field and laboratory personnel with routine tasks.
- Transport equipment, specimens, and documents.
- Prepare reports and communicate test results to clients.
- Learn industry-standard proposal and report writing practices.
- Understand test procedures including ASTM, DOT, and COE standards.
- Gain experience in laboratory organization, scheduling, and efficiency.
- Learn about quality management systems and procedures.
- Support project management tasks, including writing proposals and managing change orders.
- Interact with clients to provide a high level of service.
- Execute projects safely, accurately, and profitably.
What you'll need#
- A high school diploma.
- Current enrollment in a BS or Master's degree program in civil or construction engineering.
- Preference is given to students with less than one year remaining to complete their BS degree.

- Availability: Summer 2027 or Winter 2027 terms.
