Student Surgery Tech

About the role#

The Student Surgery Tech provides technical care to surgical and obstetric patients across all age groups. This role supports the safe and effective conduct of invasive surgical procedures by following established hospital standards and practices. This is a per diem, rotating position.

What you'll do#

• Provide direct and indirect technical care to patients.
• Set up the operating room with necessary supplies and equipment based on scheduled case requirements and physician preference cards.
• Maintain a sterile environment during all assignments.
• Perform scrubbing and circulating duties as directed.
• Assist with complicated treatments, diagnostic procedures, and physical examinations under the instruction of a registered nurse.
• Manage operating room cleanup, including disposal, cleaning, inventory, and restocking.
• Escort and transport patients using appropriate transfer techniques.
• Perform clerical functions to support department operations.
• Participate in department meetings, in-services, and Performance Improvement activities.

What you'll need#

• High school diploma or GED.
• Currently enrolled in an approved Surgical Tech degree program.
• Successful completion of a basic clinical skills lab.
• Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to complete established competencies within the introductory period.
