Radiology Student Extern

About the role#

The Radiology Student Extern works at the hospital alongside their clinical studies, performing basic tasks under the supervision of a Licensed Radiology Tech. This role is designed for students to apply skills learned in the classroom and practiced during clinical rotations within a hospital setting.

What you'll do#

• Collect patient data, including date of birth, age, and medical history, and explain procedures to patients to facilitate cooperation.
• Assist with transferring patients to exam tables while ensuring proper covering according to hospital policy.
• Position and adjust immobilization and support devices to limit patient movement during procedures.
• Operate imaging equipment with proficiency, including portables, c-arms, tomography, fluoroscopy, and general radiographic equipment.
• Produce radiographs of diagnostic quality through satisfactory positioning and equipment knowledge.

What you'll need#

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Current enrollment as a full-time student in good standing in an accredited Radiology Tech program.
• Successful completion of academic and clinical competencies relevant to assigned tasks.
• American Heart Association BLS CPR certification (must be obtained within 7 days of hire).
