About the role#
The Georgia Department of Transportation Legislative Affairs team acts as a liaison between the department, the Governor's Office, and elected officials. This internship provides experience working with the Director of Policy and Government Affairs and the Government and Legislative Relations Specialist. You will assist with daily operations and projects throughout the legislative session.
What you'll do#
- Manage the legislative inquiry system.
- Prepare internal documents and briefings.
- Track legislation as it moves through the House and Senate.
- Attend committee meetings and floor sessions.
- Conduct various research projects.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment as a full or part-time student in a college or university.
- A 2.0 GPA or higher.
- General knowledge of the Georgia legislative process.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to organize tasks and manage multiple priorities.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
Location & details#
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Pay: Hourly rates are $20.00 for lower-division undergraduates, $21.00 for upper-division undergraduates, and $23.00 for graduate students.
- Terms: This is a temporary, paid position. Interns may work up to 40 hours per week for a maximum of 12 weeks. No benefits, earned leave, or paid holidays are provided.
