About the role#
This internship is a paid, 40-hour per week, hands-on training program designed to prepare you for a career in operations leadership. You will work within a Target Supply Chain Facility, gaining a realistic job preview of the Operations Manager role. Throughout the summer, you will work closely with mentors and managers to develop an understanding of supply chain business functions, including inbound, outbound, and warehousing operations. You will spend your time on the facility floor, learning to lead, motivate, and influence teams while driving productivity and safety.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support the execution of daily operations by working alongside team members.
- Track key performance indicators such as safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive consistent performance.
- Carry out process improvement initiatives to create efficient, lean operations.
- Recruit and mentor team members to foster a continuous improvement mindset and guide them toward leadership roles.
- Demonstrate and uphold a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance.
- Lead daily planning meetings, conduct safety walks, and provide performance feedback to team members.
- Address operational hurdles and communicate with IT and operations teams to resolve system issues.

- Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility.
- Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as this is a 24-hour operation.
