About the role#
As an Operations Manager Intern, you will gain a realistic preview of life as an operations leader within a Target supply chain facility. This is a hands-on, 40-hour per week training program designed to develop your leadership skills. You will work closely with mentors and managers to understand how our supply chain business functions, lead daily operations, and learn how to motivate and influence a team. You will have the opportunity to step into leading a work center with guidance and support throughout the summer.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support daily operations by working directly alongside team members.
- Track key performance indicators including safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive performance.
- Lead daily meetings for the operational team to share information and plan shifts.
- Carry out process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies.
- Conduct safety walks throughout the building to identify, resolve, and report findings.
- Provide feedback and coaching to team members regarding performance and safety standards.
What you'll need#
- Participation in school or extracurricular activities and experience in leadership roles.
- A strong interest in working in retail, specifically within supply chain facilities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a team-oriented mindset.
- Strong problem-solving skills and initiative.
- Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility.
- Ability to frequently lift or move merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Logistics.
