About the role#
As an Operations Manager Intern, you will gain hands-on experience leading a team within a Target Supply Chain Facility. This paid, 40-hour per week program provides a realistic preview of life as an Operations Manager. You will work closely with mentors and facility managers to understand supply chain business operations, develop leadership skills, and drive daily results. The internship focuses on problem-solving, team motivation, and process improvement while prioritizing safety and productivity.
What you'll do#
- Lead and support daily operations by working directly alongside team members.
- Track key performance indicators including safety, teamwork, quality, and productivity to identify gaps and drive performance.
- Carry out process improvement initiatives using continuous improvement methodologies.
- Lead daily meetings for the operational team to share information and align on business priorities.
- Conduct safety walks throughout the building to identify, resolve, and report findings.
- Provide coaching and performance feedback to team members.
- Participate in internship training activities and developmental opportunities.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or Logistics.
- Experience in leadership roles through school or extracurricular activities.
- Strong interest in retail and supply chain facility operations.
- Ability to access all levels and areas of the facility.
- Capability to frequently lift or move merchandise up to 15 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
