About the role#
This position provides practical experience for nursing students in the Emergency Room. You will work under the continuous, direct, and on-site supervision of a registered nurse to support patient care. This role is designed to enhance your clinical preparation while ensuring safe patient outcomes.
What you'll do#
- Assist the nursing staff with daily living activities for patients.
- Collect specimens, vital signs, and intake and output data.
- Orient patients to the hospital environment and assist with initial assessments.
- Perform patient care activities and treatments once you have documented competency.
- Communicate patient and family needs to the nursing team.
- Provide nutritional support based on patient conditions.
- Report any abnormal findings to the registered nurse.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment.
- Collaborate with team members to support high-quality care.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Successful completion of the first semester of nursing fundamentals.
- Attendance in an approved program that leads to eligibility for the NCLEX exam and state RN licensure.
- Continued enrollment in your nursing program each semester.
- Successful completion of a skills checklist at your school of nursing.
- Demonstrated competency in skill performance as documented on the hospital competency checklist.
