About the role#
As a VTS Test Technologist Co-op, you will support process testing, test execution, and data analysis. You will work within the Carbon Capture Process Development department to translate engineering requests into practical test plans. This role involves operating a single-bed test unit while following training and safety protocols.
What you'll do#
- Safely operate the single-bed test unit.
- Translate engineering test requests into daily test plans.
- Monitor and record process parameters like pressure, temperature, flow rate, and gas composition.
- Maintain detailed test records and logs.
- Perform basic data analysis using established templates.
- Support instrumentation activities, including calibration, gas sampling, and verification of flow measurement equipment.
- Identify and communicate test variances, equipment issues, or unexpected conditions to the team.
- Collaborate with the test team on additional activities as required.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a minimum 3rd year Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Basic knowledge of process equipment such as valves, pumps, heat exchangers, piping, and related systems.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to follow established procedures.
- Ability to work under close supervision.
- A collaborative approach to working with team members and managers.
- Previous co-op or internship experience in a related industrial, laboratory, manufacturing, or process environment is preferred.
- Exposure to data acquisition, signal filtering and conditioning, process instrumentation, or process control is an asset.
Location & details#
- Location: Burnaby, British Columbia (On-site).
- Terms: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027 (January 2027 to August 2027).
- Employment type: Full-time co-op.
- Compensation: CAD $3,400 - $4,650 per month.
