About the role#
As a Test Engineering Co-op, you will support the testing team through the full lifecycle of the testing process. This includes developing mechanical and electrical test equipment, executing tests, and analyzing data. You will work with engineering teams to drive data-based decisions and contribute to continuous improvement efforts in the lab.
What you'll do#
- Support the design, fabrication, calibration, and commissioning of mechanical and electrical test equipment.
- Execute tests following established procedures and safety practices.
- Deliver accurate, reliable, and timely test data to internal stakeholders.
- Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform preventative maintenance and instrument calibration.
- Help ensure testing systems remain operational and fit for purpose.
- Maintain accurate documentation for test equipment, procedures, results, and data.
- Support the development and validation of new testing systems.
- Identify opportunities to increase testing efficiency, optimize processes, and reduce waste.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized fabrication shop and testing centre in alignment with Lean culture.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Entry-level hands-on experience in a laboratory, test facility, fabrication environment, or similar technical setting.
- Basic knowledge of instrumentation, control automation, and data acquisition systems.
- An interest in mechanical and electrical testing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot equipment and resolve routine issues.
- Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
- Ability to follow established procedures and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Location: Burnaby, British Columbia.
- This is an on-site, full-time co-op position.
- Term: January 2027 to August 2027.
