About the role#
This is a part-time, paid internship for Summer 2027. You will join our team as an HSE Intern to help manage and execute projects safely. You will spend 80% of your time in the field at heavy civil and highway construction sites and 20% in the office. Please note that site work involves exposure to loud noise, moving mechanical parts, and outdoor conditions like heat, humidity, and dust.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the implementation of the Project Specific HSE Plan, safe work practices, and job hazard analyses.
- Perform at least one HSE work site inspection per week and document project-specific findings.
- Monitor the use of personal protective equipment and assist with worker orientations.
- Help implement and monitor the Task Hazard Analysis Program.
- Report health, safety, and environmental infractions and document corrective measures.
- Assist with incident investigations, HSE report reviews, and emergency procedure communication.
- Develop and communicate statistical HSE information.
- Attend project meetings and conduct observations and audits.
- Demonstrate commitment to company HSE policies and our goal of zero incidents.
What you'll need#
- Currently working towards a bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Industrial Engineering, Health and Safety, or a similar field.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety regulations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- A valid state driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from the project office or site.
- A positive attitude toward learning and professional development.
