Transportation Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Transportation Group Intern to join the team in Tucson, Arizona. This internship offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience on challenging construction projects. You will work alongside experienced professionals to learn the core activities involved in successful project delivery.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawings, and cost control records.
• Prepare reports, conduct safety inspections, and manage submittal logging and processing.
• Perform quantity take-offs and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for proposals.
• Support field operations including surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing corrections.
• Monitor project schedules, assist with timekeeping, and track inventory.
• Participate in bid openings and project meetings by taking notes and maintaining records.
• Perform various tasks as a helper or technician assistant, which may include manual labor.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management or Engineering program (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering).
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• A curious mindset with a willingness to ask questions and take on new challenges.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hardhats.
• Ability to stand, walk, and perform physical tasks such as lifting or bending throughout a shift.
