Transportation Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Transportation Group Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 term. This full-time, on-site internship provides exposure to the construction industry through hands-on participation in building projects. We are looking for students who are curious, team-oriented, and interested in pursuing a career in construction.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawing preparation, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, submittal logging, and processing.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and coordinate with vendors and sub-contractors for proposals.
• Assist with surveying, testing, sample collection, drawing corrections, and filing.
• Participate in time keeping, inventory control, schedule checking, and sub-contractor monitoring.
• Attend bid openings and conferences, take notes, and complete project forms.
• Observe and report on meetings and conduct site tours for visitors.
• Perform various tasks as a manual laborer, helper, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering program.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A team-player mindset with a strong desire to learn and get hands-on experience.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and safety glasses.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, kneeling, and walking for the duration of a shift.
• Commitment to following all safety standards and procedures in a safety-sensitive environment.
