Transportation Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Transportation Group Intern to join our team for the Summer 2025 term. This full-time, paid internship is designed for students pursuing degrees in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, or Construction Management. You will gain hands-on experience on active construction projects and participate in the daily operations required to deliver our work.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, cost control records, and the preparation of shop drawings.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and the processing of submittals.
• Help with surveying, testing, sample collection, and document filing.
• Assist with schedule monitoring, inventory control, and subcontractor coordination.
• Attend bid openings and conferences to take notes and complete necessary forms.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and contact vendors or subcontractors for proposals.
• Perform various tasks as a field assistant, clerk, or technician helper.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management or Engineering program.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• A curious mindset with a willingness to learn and work in a hands-on environment.
• Ability to work as a team player and take on diverse challenges.
• Ability to wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and hardhats.
• Ability to stand, walk, or perform manual tasks for the duration of a shift.
