Transportation Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking students for a Transportation Group Intern - Engineer position. This internship provides hands-on experience on construction projects, offering exposure to the daily operations required to build complex infrastructure. This is a full-time, paid summer 2026 opportunity for students interested in pursuing a career as a builder.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawing preparation, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal logging and processing.
• Participate in surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing filing.
• Monitor schedules, inventory, and subcontractor activities.
• Attend bid openings and conferences to take notes and complete project forms.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for proposals.
• Perform various tasks as a laborer, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering or Construction Management program.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• A team-oriented mindset, curiosity, and a willingness to engage in hands-on work.
• Ability to comply with all safety standards, including wearing required personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and safety glasses.
• Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, or climbing as required by the site environment.
