Transportation Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Transportation Group Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 term. This internship provides hands-on experience on construction projects, offering exposure to the daily activities required to build and manage large-scale infrastructure. This is a full-time, paid, on-site position based in Maxwell, Texas.

What you'll do#

Interns participate in various aspects of project operations, including:

• Assisting with project record keeping, preparing shop drawings, and maintaining cost control records.
• Supporting report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal logging and processing.
• Performing tasks related to surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing filing.
• Assisting with timekeeping, inventory control, schedule monitoring, and subcontractor coordination.
• Attending bid openings and conferences to document proceedings.
• Preparing quantity take-offs and soliciting proposals from vendors and subcontractors.
• Working as a manual laborer, helper, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical Engineering program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A strong interest in pursuing a career in construction with a builder.
• Ability to work as a team player and willingness to take on various project challenges.
• Ability to comply with all safety standards, including the use of required personal protective equipment such as steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and safety glasses.
• Physical ability to perform tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, and occasional climbing throughout a shift.
