Heavy Industrial & Mining Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking engineering and construction management students for a Heavy Industrial & Mining Intern position. This role provides exposure to large-scale construction projects and the opportunity to participate in the various technical and administrative tasks required to build them.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, cost control, and schedule checking.
• Prepare shop drawings, reports, and quantity take-offs.
• Support submittal logging, processing, and subcontractor monitoring.
• Participate in surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing filing.
• Assist with safety inspections and inventory control.
• Attend bid openings and conferences to take notes and complete documentation.
• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors regarding proposals.
• Perform tasks as a manual laborer, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or Architecture/Construction Management program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A collaborative mindset and willingness to take on diverse challenges.
• Curiosity and a readiness to engage in hands-on work.
• Strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.

• Note: This is a safety-sensitive position requiring the ability to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and safety glasses. Physical tasks may include frequent grasping, lifting, and walking, as well as occasional climbing of stairs or ladders.
