Heavy Industrial & Mining - Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking engineering and construction management students for a Summer 2026 internship within our Heavy Industrial & Mining division. This role provides exposure to the various activities involved in building large-scale projects. Interns will work on-site, gaining practical experience while contributing to project success.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawings, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal logging.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and contact vendors and sub-contractors for proposals.
• Participate in surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing corrections.
• Assist with timekeeping, inventory control, schedule checking, and subcontractor monitoring.
• Attend bid openings and conferences, document meetings, and conduct site tours.
• Perform various roles as needed, including manual labor, clerk, or technician assistant.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering or Construction Management program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A strong interest in pursuing a career in construction with a builder.
• Immense curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the readiness to perform hands-on work.
• A collaborative mindset, prepared to take on diverse challenges.
• Ability to comply with all safety standards and wear required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, hardhats, and safety glasses.
