Heavy Industrial and Mining Intern - Estimating

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking students for a Heavy Industrial and Mining Estimating internship. This role provides hands-on experience in the preconstruction phase of projects, working alongside our Preconstruction and Operations teams to support project planning and execution. This is a full-time, paid, rolling internship based on-site in Arizona.

What you'll do#

• Aid in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients.
• Assist in analyzing subcontractor bids and vendor proposals for project requirement compliance.
• Help prepare and assemble bid packages, ensuring all documents, specifications, and requirements are accurately presented.
• Support the estimating team by preparing quantity take-offs, developing cost estimates, and utilizing modeling software such as Revit or Navisworks.
• Attend preconstruction meetings to contribute, take notes, and assist with follow-up tasks.
• Organize and maintain project documents, including plans, specifications, and addendums.
• Work closely with operational leads and estimators to ensure preconstruction activities are completed on time.
• Participate in site visits to understand project conditions and requirements.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management, Civil, Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering program, or Business Administration.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A collaborative mindset and a readiness to take on challenges.
• Strong curiosity, an eagerness to learn, and a proactive approach to asking questions.
• A demonstrated interest in pursuing a long-term career in construction.
