Heavy Industrial and Mining Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Heavy Industrial and Mining Intern to join our team for the Summer 2026 term. This internship provides hands-on experience on challenging construction projects. We are looking for students who are eager to learn, curious, and ready to participate in the various activities required to build large-scale projects.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawing preparation, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal logging and processing.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and coordinate with vendors and sub-contractors for proposals.
• Assist with surveying, testing, sample collection, drawing corrections, and filing.
• Help with timekeeping, inventory control, schedule checking, and monitoring sub-contractors.
• Attend bid openings and conferences, take notes, and complete documentation.
• Observe and report on meetings and conduct site tours for visitors.
• Perform various tasks as a manual laborer, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A team-oriented mindset and a willingness to take on new challenges.
• Curiosity and a desire to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry.
• Ability to meet physical requirements, including wearing personal protective equipment and working in a safety-sensitive environment.
