Building Group Intern - Estimating

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking a Building Group Intern to join the Estimating team in Tucson, Arizona. This internship offers hands-on experience in the preconstruction phase of construction projects, working directly with Preconstruction and Operations teams. This is a paid, full-time position with a rolling term.

What you'll do#

• Aid in the preparation of proposals and presentations for potential clients.
• Assist in analyzing subcontractor bids and vendor proposals to ensure compliance with project requirements.
• Prepare and assemble bid packages, ensuring all necessary documents and specifications are accurately presented.
• Support the estimating team by preparing quantity take-offs, developing cost estimates, and creating bid packages.
• Attend and contribute to preconstruction meetings, manage follow-up tasks, and maintain project documentation including plans and addendums.
• Utilize modeling software, such as Revit or Navisworks, to develop accurate quantities.
• Participate in site visits to better understand project conditions and requirements.
• Collaborate with operational leads and estimators to ensure preconstruction activities are completed on schedule.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Architecture program.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• A strong interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull objects up to 50 lbs and perform tasks involving stooping, kneeling, or bending on an occasional basis.
• Ability to work on-site in Tucson, Arizona.
