Building Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking engineering and construction management students for a Building Group Intern position. This role provides hands-on experience on challenging construction projects, offering exposure to the daily operations and technical requirements needed to successfully deliver building projects.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawing preparation, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal processing.
• Participate in surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing documentation.
• Monitor schedules, inventory, timekeeping, and subcontractor activities.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and coordinate with vendors and subcontractors for proposals.
• Attend bid openings and conferences, document meetings, and conduct site tours.
• Perform tasks as a manual laborer, helper, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Current enrollment in a four-year Construction Management or Engineering program, specifically Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
• A high level of curiosity, a willingness to learn, and a readiness to engage in hands-on site work.
• A strong interest in pursuing a long-term career in the construction industry.
• Ability to wear and utilize required personal protective equipment, including steel-toed boots, hardhats, and safety glasses.
• Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, and occasional lifting or climbing throughout a shift.
