Building Group Intern - Engineer

About the role#

Sundt Construction is seeking engineering and construction management students for a Summer 2026 internship within our Building Group. This role provides hands-on experience on challenging projects and offers exposure to the various stages of project execution.

What you'll do#

• Assist with project record keeping, shop drawings, and cost control records.
• Support report preparation, safety inspections, and submittal logging.
• Participate in surveying, testing, sample collection, and drawing filing.
• Assist with timekeeping, inventory control, schedule checking, and subcontractor monitoring.
• Attend bid openings and conferences to take notes and complete project forms.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and contact vendors or sub-contractors for proposals.
• Observe and report on meeting results and conduct site tours for visitors.
• Perform tasks as a manual laborer, helper, clerk, or technician assistant as needed.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in a four-year Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or Architecture program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• A curious mindset and a willingness to learn.
• A team-oriented approach and readiness to take on various challenges.
• A demonstrated interest in a career as a builder.
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including steel-toed shoes, hardhats, and safety glasses.
