As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will help design, build, and scale the manufacturing systems used to create home robots and data collection devices. This role involves a balance of engineering design and hands-on production support, focusing on the transition from early-stage builds to mass production.
What you'll do#
- Support the design and development of mechanical jigs and fixtures for robotic and wearable devices.
- Contribute to DFM/DFA efforts to ensure designs scale effectively from prototypes to high-volume production.
- Work directly with vendors and suppliers on prototyping, tooling, and production readiness.
- Analyze and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and maintain quality standards.
- Create and maintain process documentation, including workflows and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct time and motion studies to identify bottlenecks and support the build team in meeting production milestones.
- Evaluate and recommend equipment and technologies to support efficient manufacturing.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
- Prior mechanical or manufacturing engineering experience through internships or project work.
- Strong CAD skills and familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and machining.
- Understanding of DFM/DFA principles.
- Experience working on consumer hardware, robotics, or compact devices.
- A hands-on approach to problem-solving and the ability to iterate quickly.
