About the role#
Stripe offers machine learning engineering internships for the summer of 2027. You will join our Applied ML, Data Science, Risk, and Payments organizations to contribute to projects that enhance our product suite. This includes work on foundation models for tasks like fraud detection, user behavior prediction, and enhanced support. You will tackle problems at the intersection of finance, technology, and data, including projects like the Stripe Assistant and Stripe Foundation Model.
What you'll do#
- Develop and deploy large-scale machine learning systems that drive business value.
- Manage the end-to-end process of designing, training, improving, and launching models.
- Write production-scale ML models for deployment.
- Collaborate with teams to incorporate feedback and find solutions to challenges.
- Learn new technologies and approaches while communicating your work status clearly.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, with an expected graduation in winter 2027 or spring/summer 2028.
- Intent to return to your degree program after the internship.
- Practical experience with programming and machine learning from projects, classwork, or research.
- Familiarity with Python, Scala, Spark, Pandas, NumPy, and Scikit-learn.
- Expertise in supervised and unsupervised learning techniques and ML operations.
- Experience in Large Language Models or Reinforcement Learning.
- Ability to work on collaborative projects and apply feedback.
- A proactive approach to learning unfamiliar systems and independent problem solving.
- Two years of university education or equivalent domain knowledge in ML.
- Experience writing high-quality pull requests and maintaining test coverage.
- Familiarity with navigating new codebases and managing work across programming languages.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Published and presented peer-reviewed articles in top-tier venues is a plus.
