About the role#
This is a selective, 12-week fellowship for high school students and recent graduates who have already demonstrated exceptional technical work. You will work in person at our Seattle or San Francisco offices on a scoped engineering project. You will own a problem end-to-end, contribute directly to our codebase, and learn how to build reliable systems. This is not a classroom program. You will be expected to contribute to team goals, participate in technical reviews, and communicate your progress clearly.
What you'll do#
- Participate in team discussions, technical design processes, and decision-making.
- Write, test, and document software for production use.
- Give and receive technical feedback through code reviews and design discussions.
- Collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners.
- Learn unfamiliar systems through independent research and mentorship.
- Communicate project status, including risks and open questions.
- Use AI development tools with rigorous judgment and validation.
What you'll need#
- Currently enrolled in high school or graduating before the internship begins.
- Available for 12 consecutive weeks of full-time, in-person work between May and August 2027.
- Experience programming through independent projects, research, coursework, competitions, open source, or startups.
- Evidence of exceptional technical achievement for your stage.
- Ability to explain your individual technical contributions, decisions, and tradeoffs.
- Experience working with others on a technical project.
- Ability to meet employment eligibility and age requirements by the start date.
- Preferred: Deeper knowledge in areas like frontend, backend, infrastructure, data, machine learning, security, or developer tools.
- Preferred: Experience writing high-quality pull requests, tests, or technical documentation.
- Preferred: Familiarity with navigating unfamiliar codebases and a record of sustained technical work.

- Locations: Seattle, WA or San Francisco, CA.
- Modality: Full-time, on-site.
- Term: Summer 2027 (12 consecutive weeks).
- Compensation: $60 per hour.
